Yes, both a current passport and a tourist visa are required to enter the country. Application details from the Chinese Embassy are available here: https://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/zj/qz2021/202509/t20250920_11712385.htm You may choose to use a visa preparation service for expediency.

No problem! We aim to make this trip accessible and equally valuable for attendees who speak English but do not understand Chinese. Modern translation apps will be helpful, too.

Please arrive at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Airport shuttles will be arranged for pick-up and drop-off, with more details to come.

Please arrive on August 16th, 2026. If it is convenient, morning through early afternoon will be best. We would recommend against arriving late at night. With everyone traveling separately we understand that it will come down to what is most convenient for you.

You are welcome to arrive early or leave later. Just note that coordinating an early arrival or late departure will be your own responsibility. If you choose to arrive early please plan to meet us at the first hotel on August 16th.

Please bring weather-appropriate clothing, as August in Shanghai will be hot and potentially rainy. Sunblock and/or a parasol will help prevent too much sun exposure. You'll also need comfortable walking shoes for visits to the hospitals, production facilities, the museum, and other scenic destinations.

Getting set up on WeChat is required before travel, primarily for communication while in China, but also to facilitate payment for incidentals/souvenirs. A majority of merchants and businesses are cashless, favoring QR code payment via WeChat/WePay or Alipay; so we'd recommend getting set up on both of these apps. Most meals will be provided, but please be prepared to purchase a few meals for yourself on travel days.

Phenomenal! Our visit in 2019 was a longer duration, so while our 2026 itinerary will differ in length and activities, we're anticipating a remarkable journey yet again. Click HERE to read Gilian Lata's experience as one of the acupuncturist attendees on our 2019 trip to China.
