Quality Seeds. High-quality herbal extracts require high-quality seeds. Tianjiang has long partnered with China Pharmaceutical University's Department of Genetics and Breeding to identify and cultivate seeds that are not only authentic, but represent the best specimens of each botanical species.

Directly from the Farms. Authentic herbs grown from high quality seeds are then sourced directly through long-standing relationships with over 300 farms across 22 provinces. Additionally, Tianjiang owns or co-owns 66 farms to ensure quality from seedling through finished product.

Geo-Authentic. While many herbs are available from different regions across China, approximately 95% of our raw herbs are geo-authentic, meaning they come from their regions of traditional origins (also known as their "Dao Di"). While we would prefer to source all herbs from their Dao Di regions, herbs from some Dao Di regions are no longer able to meet our standards for sustainability, low-toxicity, and/or concentrations of active chemical constituents.

Optimal Freshness. Our close relationships with farmers allow us to produce many herbal extracts from a single annual batch immediately after harvest for the best possible freshness and efficacy. The majority of manufacturers, in contrast, source herbs from the wholesale market. Our shorter, smaller supply chains mean we are much less likely to face issues related to variable quality and degradation and/or contaminant growth due to prolonged or improper storage.

No Endangered Species, Ever. Since 2016, Tianjiang has strictly adhered to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).  That means you will never find endangered species like tiger bone or rhino horn from us.  There are four species of protected plants in our catalog that Tianjiang procures from sustainably farmed sources: Tian Ma, Bai Ji, Yun Mu Xiang, and Rou Cong Rong.  Because Tianjiang procures these items directly from the farmers, not from the bulk herb market, we are able to obtain certification from CITES confirming that the herbs come from sustainable sources.

China's Gold Standard in Botanical Identity. Tianjiang developed hundreds of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) botanical identification standards in order to verify authenticity with absolute certainty.  Since then, the same standards have been adopted nationwide by the China Food and Drug Administration.  This means that all other suppliers of Chinese herbs must strive to meet our supplier's standards for botanical authenticity.
