Huang Qi, or Astragalus Root, is a sweet, warm herb, and is categorized as “tonify qi” herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Gan Cao

Gan Cao, Licorice Root, is a sweet and neutral herb which is used in TCM to supplement the spleen, boost the qi, and clear heat.

Dang Gui

Dang Gui, or Chinese Angelica Root, is sweet, acrid, and bitter with a warm temperature. It tonifies and invigorates the blood, and disperses cold. 

Chen Pi

Chen Pi, or tangerine peel, is bitter, acrid, and warm, typically used for qi regulation.

Sheng Ma, cimicifuga rhizome, is acrid and slightly cold. It is used to resolve the exterior, clear heat, and raise yang qi.

Chai Hu, or bupleurum root, is bitter and acrid in nature, and is typically used to spread liver qi and relieve stagnation.

Bai Zhu

Bai Zhu or white atractylodes rhiozme, is a bitter and sweet herb, warm with the function of fortifying the spleen and boosting qi.

Dang Shen

Dang Shen, codonopsis root, is sweet, slightly sour, and neutral - it is used to supplement the center and boost qi.
