American Society of Acupuncturists "Naming the Profession" Town Hall

The American Society of Acupuncturists hosted a virtual town hall on Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Day, October 24th, 2021, with the goal of putting forward some new ideas regarding the name of the industry.

A number of different names have been used to refer to the industry made up of Acupuncturists, Herbalists, and other related Practitioners over the years. A concise, all encompassing term is difficult to come by for an industry as varied and complex as ours.

In this town hall, Afua Bromley, MSOM, LAc, Dipl Ac and LiMing Tseng, MAcOM, LAc, Dipl OM cover history around different naming conventions, and suggest guidelines for an industry name based on Inclusivity, Cultural Appropriateness, and Understandability.
