Dear TCM Colleagues,

On August 11th, President Trump signed an executive order extending the suspension of the 145% reciprocal tariff on Chinese imports for another 90 days, leaving 30% in reciprocal tariffs plus the existing tariffs from the first Trump administration. While the tariff rate is still high, this signals a welcome easing in U.S.–China trade tensions and a new normal. In response to this positive development, we are implementing the following measures by 11:59pm tonight:

  • Removal of Tariff Surcharge: We are eliminating the tariff surcharge temporarily enacted to help offset the unpredictably higher costs of importation.

  • Optimized Pricing Structure: We have analyzed and instituted price adjustments to our full product line, resulting in net price reductions on nearly 400 products relative to our current 2022 prices with tariff surcharge.

While tariffs have impacted our prices, we’ve been hard at work to ensure that our supply is uninterrupted. We continue to offer many herbs undergoing global supply shortages as well as unparalleled quality and efficacy across the board.

If you have any questions regarding these adjustments or our products, please contact us. We remain committed to providing you the best quality Chinese herbs available and with efficient and professional support.

Thank you for your continued trust and cooperation.

Sincerely,
Teresa

Dear TCM Colleagues,

As of yesterday, the US International Trade Court ruled that the Trump Administration's recent tariffs issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act are unconstitutional. The Administration was given 10 days to issue an executive order to revoke the tariffs. However, the Administration filed an appeal against the ruling and a Federal appeals court has allowed the tariffs to remain in place for now.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will respond accordingly when/if the tariff policy changes. As of now, our tariff surcharge remains in place to help offset the additional tariffs we have already paid to bring two containers of herbal extracts into the US since the new tariffs have been enacted. These are costs we've paid to ensure that we can continue to provide you with the wide range of herbs you need to achieve the best patient outcomes. Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.

Sincerely,
Teresa

Dear TCM Colleagues,

At Treasure of the East, we have never taken price adjustments lightly and we will continue to hold our current prices, last updated in 2022, for as long as we can. Yet, as of May 14th, 2025, we have started paying 30% in new tariffs in addition to up to 25% of existing tariffs from the first Trump administration. These costs must be paid in full to the US government before we can receive the herbs and we simply cannot shoulder them alone.

While other companies have quietly instituted price increases, we have decided to implement a tariff surcharge of 20% to help offset our costs for importing the highest quality herbal extracts that can only be sourced from China. We believe that this option offers transparency and flexibility to adjust or remove the surcharge as the tariff policies change.

It’s always our goal to be the best partner that we can while providing incredible value for the best quality herbs available. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and for your trust in us.

Sincerely,

Teresa Williams Zhang
