What is Yin Qiao San?

Yin Qiao San is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula designed to curb wind-heat invasion.

Dating back to the Qing dynasty and the ancient scholar physician Wu Ju Tong, Yin Qiao San has become a household name for its use during cold and flu season, commonly found in natural food stores and online.

What are the benefits of Yin Qiao San?

In TCM, Yin Qiao San dispels wind-heat, clears heat and detoxifies.

Yin Qiao San is an essential first response herbal strategy for wind-heat symptoms that include fever, slight chills, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, and a floating, rapid pulse.

What is the dosage and method for taking Yin Qiao San?

The generally recommended dosage of Yin Qiao San in capsule form is four capsules, two to three times daily; or as loose granules, 4.5 g mixed with hot water, 2-3 times per day. However, always follow your healthcare provider's instructions, as the dosage can vary based on your condition and response to treatment.

Please see What's the Recommended Dosage for Granule Herbs? for more information.

When can I expect to see results?

Yin Qiao San typically starts to take effect within days. However, like all treatments, its efficacy can vary from person to person.

Does Yin Qiao San have any side effects?

While Yin Qiao San is generally considered safe for most people, it can cause side effects in some individuals. Women who are pregnant, nursing, or postpartum as well as people with liver disease, should avoid or use Yin Qiao San with caution.

As with any Chinese herb, we recommend consulting with a qualified practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) about Yin Qiao San before any course of treatment is started.
