What is Fu Ling?

Fu Ling, or Poria, is a sweet, bland, neutral herb, and is categorized as an “eliminate damp” herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Fu Ling from Treasure of the East is sourced from Yunnan Province, a Dao Di region where the herb has been grown and cultivated for many centuries.

What are the benefits of Fu Ling?

Fu Ling is best known for its TCM function of drying dampness while boosting Spleen Qi. Practitioners often use Fu Ling in cases of water retention, including edema and dysuria, as well as Spleen and Stomach disharmony resulting in digestive issues such as vomiting, abdominal fullness and diarrhea.

Fu Ling may also be used in patterns of Heart and Spleen disharmony resulting in palpitations, insomnia and poor memory.

What is the dosage and method for taking Fu Ling?

Fu Ling is generally taken as part of a balanced formula in conjunction with other herbs. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions, as the dosage can vary based on your condition and response to treatment.

Fu Ling may be taken in capsule form or loose granules. Granules dissolve best in very hot water.

When can I expect to see results?

Fu Ling typically starts to take effect within days. However, like all treatments, its efficacy can vary from person to person.

Does Fu Ling have any side effects?

While Fu Ling is generally considered safe for most people, it can cause side effects in some individuals. Women who are pregnant, nursing, or postpartum as well as people with liver disease, should avoid or use Fu Ling with caution.

As with any Chinese herb, we recommend consulting with a qualified practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) about Fu Ling before any course of treatment is started.
